iOS (iPhone/iPad)
PRACTICE Software is not available in the App Store, but you can easily add it to your home screen by following these steps:
Open Safari and go to nyc.practice.org.
Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing up).
Select “Add to Home Screen” from the options that appear.
You’ll now have the PRACTICE app right on your home screen for quick access!
Why use the app? It’s designed to work better than mobile Safari, avoiding some of the quirks you may encounter with Apple’s browser.
Android
We’ve made it just as simple for Android users to access PRACTICE Software on their mobile devices:
Open Chrome and navigate to nyc.practice.org.
Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner and choose “Add to Home Screen”.
You’ll now see the PRACTICE Software app on your home screen!
Tip: The app provides a much smoother experience than using Chrome’s mobile browser, especially for tasks like scrolling and navigating between screens.
For Touchscreen Computers
On touchscreen devices like tablets, you can continue using your browser, but to make the experience even better, follow these steps:
Go to Settings > My Account.
Check the option for “Use tablet layout” to optimize the interface for touchscreen use.
This feature gives you an easy-to-navigate layout with touch-friendly spacing and menus.
Optimized for Every Role
Teachers
Tablets provide full screen support. For smartphones, key features such as Attendance, Assignments, and Messages are optimized for smaller screens. Rotate your phone for additional functionality.
Admins
Tablets have full-screen support. On smartphones, key features such as Messages, Referrals, and the Student Locator are optimized for mobile, and rotating your phone sideways offers additional functionality.
Students & Parents
Both tablets and smartphones support all screens, though file uploads and downloads are limited. Rotating the phone sideways gives access to more options.
Common Issues & Solutions
Difficulty scrolling or glitches? We recommend using the PRACTICE Software app for smoother navigation. Mobile browsers (Safari, Chrome, etc.) can cause minor issues that the app resolves.
Is your iOS app outdated? If you see an old browser bar at the top (with back, next, refresh), your app may be outdated. Simply delete the old app and follow the steps above to install the latest version for an improved experience.
