The school year included an 11-week high-impact tutoring cycle for newcomer multilingual
learners, while all six schoolwide ELA and Math indicators moved upward.

The Administrator Challenge

Newcomer multilingual learners needed scaffolded ELA practice aligned to current coursework. School leaders needed a support model that could launch quickly, fit the existing schedule, and stay coordinated with teachers and site leadership.

The PRACTICE Approach

Eleven weeks of tutoring from February 23 through May 7, delivered during the school day.
A high-dosage cadence: 90 minutes weekly in three 30-minute sessions, with a 5:1 ratio.
Service design: two Education Champions at the site, using targeted groups, progress monitoring, and teacher coordination.
